eBay US adds video functionality to stores and listings

eBay US recently announced that it will launch new features and tools for sellers in the fall. Specific updates include listing and promotion, business operations, and shipping services to help sellers operate and consolidate their online businesses.

In terms of promotion, eBay now supports sellers to add videos to their stores and listings to showcase their brands and products. Later this year, eBay will allow sellers to upload 24 pictures in their listings (previously 12) without charging any fees, which applies to all categories except automobiles.

At the same time, sellers can now create newsletters using custom templates, send promotional offers, and add branding to increase awareness. These tools will help sellers build their own brands, easily tell their brand stories, and attract repeat customers.

On the business side, in the coming weeks, sellers will have access to a new and improved messaging experience on desktop and mobile devices. Staying connected with buyers will help sellers promote their products.

eBay will also provide sellers selling into and into France with important information on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation, as well as guidance for selling into the Great Britain (GB) and Northern Ireland (NI) marketplaces.

In terms of shipping services, in the next few months, eBay will launch a new eBay International Shipping Service to eligible sellers. This service will help sellers solve the difficulties they may encounter when shipping internationally.

The new eBay International Shipping Service retains the advantages of eBay's original global shipping program, such as delivery to the US hub, "not received items" and feedback protection. At the same time, the service can also handle returns and refunds on behalf of sellers, cancel international fees, lower shipping costs, and allow buyers to choose when to pay import fees at checkout or delivery.

It is worth mentioning that eBay US recently issued an announcement stating that from November 1, 2022, eBay will update the refund guarantee policy and payment dispute handling of the "Authentic Guaranteed Transaction".

Sellers must use a tracked shipping service that shows delivery status to the authenticator's address to be eligible for Item Not Received protection.

Previously, eBay required sellers to display at least the city or zip code of the address, but starting November 1, sellers must provide proof of delivery to the certifier's full address. Once the item is marked as received by the certifier, it becomes eBay's responsibility to deliver the item to the buyer, and if there are any delivery issues, eBay will work with the buyer to resolve them.

In addition, for orders valued at more than $750, eBay still requires sellers to sign for confirmation. eBay strongly recommends that sellers purchase shipping insurance for high-value orders. eBay also encourages sellers to keep the documents provided by the carrier, as they can show the full address where the order was shipped to prevent any disputes.
