Shopee Philippines to freeze accounts that repeatedly list banned products

Shopee Philippines to freeze accounts that repeatedly list banned products

Shopee Philippines announced that starting from October 2, accounts that repeatedly list banned items will be directly frozen.

Among them, prohibited items include but are not limited to products that violate local regulations, products that violate Shopee regulations, products used for promotion, products that have been replaced, and products with misleading discounts.

It should be noted that accounts that have been frozen due to repeatedly listing banned items may not be able to appeal, but accounts that have been frozen for this reason can withdraw their account balance.

Previously, Shopee Philippines also issued new regulations, the platform will begin to monitor product quality, sellers need to optimize product-related information as soon as possible to avoid affecting store performance.

The announcement shows that the platform will monitor product quality based on returns/refunds and buyer ratings. In terms of returns/refunds, product quality monitoring involves the products uploaded by sellers and received by buyers.

Buyers can now request a return/refund if the product does not meet expectations, which includes: the product received by the buyer is different from the product description, pictures and videos. The product function, material, size, durability, and design quality (for handmade products) do not meet the buyer's expectations.

It is worth mentioning that it was previously reported that Shopee Philippines will soon launch the TatakPinoy International program, which will be open to all Shopee sellers. The TatakPinoy International program promises to provide a shopping experience supported by seamless cross-border logistics. This is similar to the current system, but with a wider coverage.

Vincent Lee, head of Shopee Philippines, said that leveraging the transformative potential of technology is key to promoting the long-term growth of Filipino sellers. Shopee Philippines launched the #TatakPinoy International program to provide free cross-border logistics support to Filipino SMEs to expand their scale and build plans to connect with international customers. It will help Filipino sellers connect with overseas buyers, and will first open up to the Singapore and Malaysia markets.
