Category Adjustment of Alibaba International Station in October 2022

In order to optimize the product structure and enhance the buyer experience, Alibaba plans to adjust the categories released on the international site starting from October 12, 2022. The adjustment is expected to be completed on October 20, 2022. The details are as follows.

1. Reasons for Category Adjustment

1. Improve the rationality of product releases: The existing product release category structure and classification method cannot fully meet industry requirements, making it difficult for suppliers to find suitable categories when releasing products.

2. Improve buyers' purchasing efficiency: Reasonable category structure and classification methods can improve buyers' search and matching accuracy, allowing buyers to find the products they want to purchase more efficiently and accurately.

2. Category Adjustment Rhythm and Scope

The specific relevant rhythms are as follows:

2022.10.12- 10.14 New categories/partial path changes/renamed categories are launched: merchants can see both new and old release categories, and new leaf categories are grayed out and cannot be released;

Product migration: Products can be released after the new leaf category is unlocked. Product migration will be performed on the same day. The products of merchants in the old category will be migrated to the new leaf category according to the product title keywords/attributes.

Old categories are blocked and product display categories are updated: abandoned categories are blocked on the merchant side and the execution is completed after the display categories are refreshed

Consumer Electronics /Apparel/Sports & Entertainment

The specific adjustment details are as follows:

Consumer Electronics:

Newly added: 1 VR, AR, MR Hardware & Software secondary category, multiple tertiary categories such as Computer anklet, Live Streaming Equipment, Professional Speakers & Accessories, Screen Protector Cutting Machines, Hand Warmer Power banks, and multiple quaternary categories such as QLED TVs, Professional Speakers, Student & Education laptops, and tracker straps;

Modification: Chinese and English names of Mobile Phone & Computer Repair Parts, Projectors & Presentation Equipments, Televisions, Home Audio, Video & Accessories, Cables & Commonly Used Accessories, etc.

Abandoned: Mini Camcorders, VR / AR Glasses / Devices & Accessories and other categories;

Change category hierarchy: Karaoke Players, Camera Lenses, Camera Flash Lights and other categories.

Apparel

The apparel industry plans to add the following categories in October:

1. Golf Clothing (under the Sportswear category)

2. Gymnastics Clothing (Sportswear category)

3. Workwear (Novelty & Special Use--Under Uniform category)

Sports & Entertainment

1. New construction

New leaf category: New third-level category Resistance Bands & Bandages & tape, including Resistance Bands (new), Sports Tape (new), Wraps Support (migrated), and Elastoplast (migrated).

A new secondary category of Field events has been added, which includes: Javelin (new), Shot Put (new), Relay Baton (new), Starter (new), High Jump (new), hurdles (new), Discus (new), and Other track and field supplies (new).

New leaf category: Added new leaf category Musical instrument protection (new) to the second-level category Musical Instruments.

New leaf categories: Martial arts and martial arts clothing, the third-level category, includes Taekwondo (new), Judo (new), Karate (new), Boxing (new), Aikido (new), Fighting (new),

New leaf category: Level 3 category Gaming equipment, including AR/VR Entertainment (newly added).

New leaf category: Woodwind Instruments, a third-level category, including Piccolo (new), oboe (new)

New leaf categories: The third-level category Brass Instruments includes Euphonium (new), baritone (new), French Horn (new), tuba (new), and other horn (new).

2. Migration:

1) The original third-level category Martial arts has been moved to the third-level category Martial arts and martial arts clothing, which includes Taekwondo, Judo, Karate, Boxing, Aikido, Fighting, Other Martial arts and martial arts clothing.

2) The original leaf categories Elbow & Knee Pads and Helmets were moved to the third-level categories.
