Amazon Japan will extend product return period from November to December

Amazon Japan announced that for Amazon direct and FBA products purchased between November 1 and December 31, 2022, the return period (usually within 30 days of product arrival) will be extended to January 31 of the following year.

The initiative aims to support sellers' mid- to long-term business growth by providing buyers with a better purchasing experience and strengthening customer appeal during peak sales seasons. The extension of the return period does not require sellers to make any changes. For products shipped by the seller, the extension of the return period is at the seller's discretion.

It should be noted that products eligible for the extended return period include only Amazon direct sales or FBA products, and the return and exchange conditions refer to products that can be returned within 30 days of product arrival.

Products purchased between November 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 that meet the above conditions can be returned until January 31, 2023. Rules other than the return period, such as refund conditions based on whether the product has been opened or used, will not change. For items purchased after January 1, 2023, the return period will revert to 30 days.

It is worth mentioning that Amazon Japan has announced the submission date for the 2022 Black Friday limited-time sales and 7-day flash sales. Amazon recommends that sellers apply for the Black Friday 1st and Black Friday 2nd limited-time sales and 7-day limited-time sales as early as possible. The submission deadline is 11:59 pm on October 7 (Japan time).

The application criteria for this Black Friday limited-time sale are: the discount must be at least 20% (the discounted price must be lower than the lowest price of the ASIN in the past 30 days); the transaction price must be lower than or equal to the lowest price of the ASIN after January 1, 2022; there must be a valid reference price (the list price or previous price must be valid); the product must have a star rating of 3.5 or above.

The application criteria for the 7-day limited-time sale are: the discount must be at least 15% (the discounted price must be lower than the lowest price of the ASIN in the past 30 days); the transaction price must be lower than or equal to the lowest price of the ASIN in the past 60 days; there must be a valid reference price (the list price or previous price must be valid); the product must have a star rating of 3 or above.

If your product is selected for a limited time sale during the Black Friday week event, you will be charged a fee of 8,000 yen. Limited time sales held outside of the Black Friday week event will be charged a fee of 4,000 yen.
