Amazon India launches customized product feature

Amazon India recently launched a new feature "Customise Your Product" that allows users to customize products before purchasing.

The new feature, which is now available for more than 10,000 products across 76 different categories, offers an “intuitive” customization experience, providing customers with visual design tools to personalize products, along with a product preview option to see the final customized product in real time.

Customers can personalise a range of products including blinds, blankets, home decor, wall art, furniture, lettering pens, necklaces, kettles, mugs, clothing and more to suit their creative requirements.

The new feature will help Amazon tap into India's fragmented and underserved personalized gifting market and meet customers' evolving personalized needs. With this innovation, the Amazon platform increases customer engagement and transforms limited product selection into unlimited choice.

The customization feature supports three forms: text, image, and product configuration. Specifically, text customization allows customers to add text to products using the color and font options specified by the seller in Seller Central;

Image customization enables customers to customize products by uploading images. Customers can also add text to appear on the image. Product configuration enables sellers to create a series of drop-down customization options through Seller Central that customers can use to personalize the product. Sellers can also charge additional fees for specific customization options at their discretion.

Buyers can find the new "Customize Your Product" feature through the "Personalize" badge in search results and the "Customize Now" button on the product page. Buyers must click "Customize Now" before adding the product to their wish list. Once clicked, a dialog box will appear with a large number of options, including font size, surface color, text and others. After completing the customization, add it to the shopping cart and you can purchase it.

Merchants should note that this feature is only available for products listed under the Merchant Fulfillment Network (MFN) and EasyShip products. Currently, customized products do not support FBA (Amazon Logistics) to ship orders.

It is worth mentioning that Amazon India previously announced on its official website that this year's Prime Day will be held from 12:00 am on July 15 to 11:59 pm on July 16. The event offers discounts on categories including TVs, laptops, smartphones, fashion and beauty, groceries, daily necessities, etc.
