Amazon: North America or Europe? Which is better?

Amazon's market models in various European countries are not much different, with the German and British sites having the highest sales and the largest markets. Some merchants asked, is it better for Amazon to do business on the North American site or the European site?

Which is better, Amazon Europe or Amazon North America?

US site: The US is a relatively mature retail and consumer market, and it is also Amazon’s “base camp.” The huge market plus local advantages make the US site large in market capacity, low in entry barriers, with a complete range of products and a mature platform service system.

As a novice seller, if you are confident in your products and operational ideas, entering the US site would be a good option to open up the market. However, the competition in the US site is fierce, especially in the fields of sports accessories 3c, wigs and eyelashes mentioned by the topic. If you lack hard power, it will be difficult for you to gain a foothold.

European Station: This station includes multiple sub-stations, such as the UK station, the German station, the Dutch station, the Italian station, etc. By opening a station, you can reach the markets of various European countries. Once the product sells well, the overall profit will be considerable. However, the threshold for entry and the difficulty of operation of the European station are relatively high.

On the one hand, each branch of the European site is different, and there are restrictions on the policies of each country when entering, such as Germany's packaging law, Britain's Brexit, and the headache of VAT. On the other hand, different countries have different languages, and subsequent operations are more difficult than the American site where English is the universal language.

Southeast Asia: I personally think it has a promising future, but as a new site, it is somewhat different from mature sites such as North America and Europe. First, Amazon currently only has a Singapore site in the region, which is relatively small. Second, Southeast Asia's e-commerce platforms are emerging, and novice sellers may face difficulties in choosing. They can refer to the operating experience of mature sites to expand the market in Southeast Asia.

No matter which site you enter, it is particularly important to operate it seriously. After you have established a firm foothold, you can expand your product line and tap into the potential of the US market, or you can try Amazon Europe or other sites to open up new markets. If you enter the European site, the key is to do a good job of compliance.

Southeast Asia is not very suitable for being a "newbie village", but it is worth a try. Of course, no matter what you choose, the Amazon platform is ultimately just a supplement, and the "C position" banner still has to be carried by the sellers themselves.

In general, Amazon's US site is the largest main site, with the advantage of large traffic and the disadvantage of many sellers. The profits of the UK and Germany in Europe are higher, but copycat sales are very serious.
