Weird Stories about Xiaohongshu: Why do many bloggers start teaching others how to be bloggers?

This article deeply analyzes the phenomenon that bloggers on Xiaohongshu have begun to teach others to become bloggers, and explores the real motivations behind it and the challenges of self-media monetization. I hope that reading this article will help you grow and monetize in the field of self-media.

Have you found an interesting phenomenon:

Whether they are in the beauty, reading, or women’s growth field... many bloggers start teaching others how to be bloggers after they have hundreds of thousands or even tens of thousands of followers. What is the reason for this?

Is it really more profitable to teach others how to make money?

In fact, it is not really like that.

Although we have heard many stories of "others go to pan for gold, you go to sell gold panning tools", the same is true:

There are too many people selling gold mining tools, and these tools may not be easy to sell.

So, everyone comes to teach people how to be bloggers, not because of how much money it can make, but simply because:

  • It's hard to make a lot of money by taking ads
  • Most people lack their own monetization products

Let’s expand on this.

1. It’s hard to make a lot of money by taking advertising

The current economic situation is not very good, and brand budgets are starting to become tight. It is no longer the days of a few years ago when hundreds of millions of dollars could be spent on advertising.

Nowadays, people pay attention to ROI and input-output ratio. They hope to earn five dollars back for every dollar they spend on you. Therefore, the screening conditions for placement are becoming more and more stringent:

Look at the stability of the data, the matching degree of the fan groups, the past cooperation cases, the conversion rate...

But everyone who knows about Xiaohongshu’s data knows that this is already very difficult.

Moreover, big bloggers have many fans and are expensive, so brands will be more strict in their selection. After all, the cost is tens of thousands of dollars, and if there are only more than 10,000 readings, wouldn’t that be a big loss?

My company cooperated with a group of accounts last week. For some accounts with 10,000 to 20,000 followers, the advertising fee was only over 200 yuan, so we signed the cooperation deal without hesitation. However, for accounts with tens of thousands of followers, it would take a long time to hesitate and screen.

Therefore, advertising is not easy to accept.

Of course, it is possible that some accounts have high fan stickiness and strong conversion rates, and can earn tens of thousands of dollars every month from advertising fees, but such accounts are really rare, and there is no need for everyone to challenge this high difficulty.

2. Most people lack their own monetization products

Most ordinary people, seeing that being a blogger is profitable, free, and seemingly easy, do it, and they don’t think about how to monetize it after that.

People generally think that taking advertising jobs can lead to financial freedom.

However, as we have said, advertising is not easy to get, especially for bloggers with a relatively large number of fans.

So, how can we realize it?

I see that many people want to be bloggers, and there seems to be a market for teaching others how to be bloggers. My own account happens to have a pretty good number of followers, so I can use myself as an example and collect tuition fees.

Therefore, more and more big bloggers have begun to teach people how to be bloggers, which can make more money than taking advertisements.

However, they may not teach people how to monetize.

But please remember, big bloggers may not necessarily make money, so they make money by teaching people to be bloggers. Small bloggers may not necessarily make no money, for example, @按摩大王默翰, who has more than 20,000 followers, has started his own mattress brand Half-Day Leisure, and @Gri:nFingers, who has no more than 5,000 followers, can make millions a month on Xiaohongshu.

Having your own monetization method or monetization product, and then using self-media to amplify it, is the correct way to start a business and make money using self-media.

It is not easy to run your own media or Xiaohongshu, so it is much better to think about how to monetize it before you start, than to work hard and risk everything to create an account with 10,000 or 100,000 followers, but only earn a few hundred yuan in advertising fees.

I have experienced this kind of heartache before, and I hope you don’t have to experience it again.
