Unfortunately, 90% of people cannot be self-media

Everyone wants to participate in self-media and share a piece of the pie, but 90% of people cannot do it. Why is that? This article tells you the answer, I hope it will be helpful to you.

Hello, fellow villagers. I am the village chief.

Although I encourage everyone to create their own media, this does not mean that everyone can make money from self-media.

It is no longer a new thing to do self-media now. It has become a mature profession.

Many people are tempted when they see so-called internet celebrities earning tens or hundreds of millions a year, and they even buy themselves mobile phones, cameras, and do some decoration to do live streaming.

But I want to say that for most people, this is a waste of money and time, because most people are not suitable for self-media at all.

1. Too superficial understanding of self-media

The reason why many people shoot Douyin, Video Number, Kuaishou, etc. is not because they have thought it through and want to do it, but because they are led by the people around them to do it.

I thought I could make money as long as I uploaded videos and products and started live streaming.

However, it is not clear why short videos can bring sales, what the role of short videos is, what advantages short videos have compared to traditional e-commerce detail pages, etc.

The simpler your understanding of the platform is, the less you know about what the platform's users like and what the platform's language is, and of course what you shoot will not be what users want to see.

2. Can’t act or pretend

Shooting short videos and live broadcasts are actually performances. To shoot Douyin, you have to pretend!

But for many people, the performance element is greater than the real reaction, which causes users to lose interest.

You need to act when shooting short videos, but your acting must be sincere and natural.

It’s like users communicating with you face to face offline, or you seeing other people’s real scenes offline.

Many people’s performances are too exaggerated, which makes users unable to feel the sincere sharing and fails to arouse users’ emotional, cognitive and emotional resonance.

3. Dare not express

Many people who shoot short videos are afraid of being seen by acquaintances and being commented on by the audience.

Remember, you can’t do business or make money if you care too much about your reputation.

If you look at the business nowadays, there is a clear difference between those who know how to advertise and those who don’t.

If you don’t even believe in your own product, how can others believe in you?

Similarly, when you are shooting a video or doing a live broadcast, if you are shy, speak unclearly, and lack confidence, users will not want to watch it.

Therefore, if you want to shoot short videos, you have to practice expressing yourself. It is not about how well you speak Mandarin, but about making sure that others can understand and be interested in what you say.

4. No products

For many people, it is actually quite difficult to make money by running their own media purely through traffic.

If you want to make money from traffic, you need good content. Good content requires sufficient content sensitivity and the ability to understand copywriting and editing.

Most ordinary people cannot write touching copy, but good products can speak for themselves and make up for some of the shortcomings in content.

The problem is that many people don’t have any products at all.

They don’t know how to choose products online, and they don’t have a good source of goods offline. Most people only have some local specialties at home, but the key is that they are not produced by themselves.

If you have your own first-hand source of goods, have a factory owned by relatives or friends, or can find good products in the supply market yourself, even if your expression ability is average, you can still have opportunities to ship goods by making short videos.

In fact, most office workers have no source of goods.

Therefore, this is also the reason why many people always think of finding easy Internet projects to make money and get ripped off.

5. Not persisting and always looking for shortcuts

As the saying goes, it is easy to open a store but difficult to keep it.

It’s the same with self-media. It’s easy to shoot short videos, but it’s difficult to shoot good short videos consistently.

Everyone thinks that being a self-media person is a shortcut to making money, so they always think that they can become an Internet celebrity and start to get a lot of orders after shooting for a few weeks.

As long as I shot dozens of videos and did a few live broadcasts without any results, I lost my patience and gave up.

Running your own media is the same as running a store, it is a process of getting through the days. Your execution and persistence already exceed more than 90% of people.

So everyone, running your own media is not about having better equipment or beautiful appearance; these are not the core factors.

For ordinary people, if they can continue to shoot and stick to one category and keep updating it, they will have the opportunity to make money.

6. No content style of your own

Regardless of whether it is described by IP or positioning, the bottom line is that it has no content style of its own, no differentiation, and no memorable points.

When users read your content, they feel the same as when they read other accounts, and yours may even be worse than others.

Think about it, everyone. For those anchors and celebrities that you are following now, do you have a reason to follow each of them?

For example, Crazy Xiao Yangge’s style of comedy is different from other funny bloggers, including his appearance, conversation, clothing, sales style, etc.

When we make videos, we may be able to imitate others at the beginning, but in the end, the competition will come down to differentiation of content, characters, and products.

The same is true for the articles written by the village chief. Although my writing is not very good, I have my own style of typesetting, expression, and topic selection, which can attract the continued attention of some users.

So if you want to write articles or make short videos, keep thinking about the differences in your content, character, scenes, etc., and how to continue to build and optimize your differences.
