Is Shopify available in Korea? What are the advantages?

Nowadays, because technology is developing very rapidly, it is actually very convenient to go anywhere in the world. And now it is also very convenient for people to buy overseas products, and they can be delivered to their homes by express delivery. Does Korea have Shopify?

1. Does Korea do Shopify?

Do. Shopify is a business-to-business (B2B) business whose primary customers are sellers.

Its total market value is around 150 billion U.S. dollars (about 170 trillion won), which is less than one-tenth of Amazon (1.7 trillion U.S. dollars). However, during last year's Black Friday, its transaction volume exceeded Amazon (4.8 billion U.S. dollars) with 5.1 billion U.S. dollars, making it a clear competitor.

About 50% of consumers in Southeast Asia use third-party e-commerce platforms for shopping, and a large proportion of online shopping is completed through channels such as social media and independent websites.

Previous data from MarketplacePulse showed that the transaction volume of independent station service platform Shopify has reached 45% of the well-known third-party e-commerce platform eBay.

2. What is Shopify’s model?

1. Different from the traditional independent station charging method

The construction of a traditional independent website mainly involves several steps: selecting a domain name - selecting a server based on traffic (bandwidth) and storage space - resolving the domain name - writing code or using a template to build the website. The biggest uncertainty factor is "bandwidth and traffic", and the amount of traffic will determine the cost of the server.

However, for the independent website Shopfiy, it has subverted this charging model. No matter how many visitors your website has or how many files you need to store, the charges are the same. You only need to charge according to the number of your users.

2. Integrate online markets

Compared with independent sites, online markets have always been very powerful. Since the calculation rules and product upload templates of each online market are different, sellers have to repeatedly create different upload templates for the same product, wasting a lot of time and energy.

However, Shopify is able to standardize and integrate products, orders, and customers from hundreds of online markets around the world, including Amazon, eBay, Aliexpress, and Walmart, and achieve unified publishing and management across platforms.

3. Open up social traffic

When a traditional website is built, the method of obtaining traffic is often through Google Adwords keyword promotion, plus posting website links on various mainstream forums or social media to increase the website's PR value and SEO weight. This process is the main work of SEO optimization, but most of it needs to be done manually. However, Shopify can achieve unified publishing on multiple platforms: products, blogs, pages, automatically and significantly increase the exposure and SEO ranking of self-built websites.

4. Innovative payment models

Shopify's website allows sellers to receive payments through Paypal, Amazon, Google and other payment methods. At the same time, Shopify has also developed its own Shopify Payments method. Now Shopify's own payment method is rapidly becoming the mainstream payment method in North America. This is mainly because of its lower handling fees and the ability to connect with the Shopify website and data analysis port. Finally, it allows traditional offline merchants to receive and pay through their own Shopify online mall, so that all payments are clear at a glance.

If you are doing cross-border e-commerce and want to set up a Korean site, you must understand the characteristics of this country. For example, if you are selling beauty products, you will definitely not be able to compete in this country, and you should sell products that are relatively scarce in this country.
