You should know that Shopee local accounts are Chinese accounts. When we apply to open a cross-border store, we use our own information. Then the account we open is a cross-border account. If we have a cross-border account, we naturally have a local account. What are the benefits of Shopee local accounts?

1. High logistics efficiency and low logistics costs.

Cross-border sellers need to first deliver the goods to a domestic transit warehouse, and then have the goods shipped abroad by the official; but local sellers only need to send the products directly to consumers, which gives them a great advantage in time.

Second, the payment is relatively fast

Cross-border sellers will receive payments from the platform twice a month, but for local sellers, the payments will be returned faster. For local store sellers, express delivery will be picked up by local logistics at the door for free. There is a logistics subsidy and the goods will be received in about 3 days. The timeliness of the payment will be much higher than that of cross-border sellers.

3. Commissions and other fees paid to the platform

Cross-border store sellers are exempt from commission for the first three months on the platform, and there is no charge for opening a store. After three months, a 6% commission + a 2% handling fee is charged, a total of 8%; however, local stores have no commission and only need to pay a 2% payment fee; in this regard, the fees for local stores are lower than those for cross-border stores.

Fourth, local stores can sell products of any category, but cross-border stores cannot. Cross-border stores have banned products. Among the banned products, local sellers do not need to worry about competition from overseas stores.

These are the advantages of local stores. Of course, local stores do not only have advantages. Compared with cross-border stores, there are still certain shortcomings.

After you apply to open a local store, if there are problems with operations, logistics, systems, etc., the domestic Shopee business team will not be able to provide you with support, so once a problem occurs, it will be difficult to solve.

Local accounts do not support Shopee's SLS logistics system. If you are a Chinese and want to open a local account on Shopee, you need to send the goods to the local area in advance. This is equivalent to finding a cross-border logistics company yourself, which is costly and you have to stock up on goods yourself. The overall operating cost is high and there are certain risks.

Although local accounts have many advantages in comparison, they also have disadvantages. I don’t recommend that you create a local account. You are a foreigner, and if you insist on creating a local account in another country, it is not certain whether you can operate it.
