Alibaba International Station changes intellectual property rules

Alibaba International Station changes intellectual property rules

Alibaba International Station released an announcement on changes to the Alibaba International Station Intellectual Property Rules (hereinafter referred to as the “Announcement”).

The announcement shows that the revised rules will be publicized from October 10, 2023, and will officially take effect on October 17, 2023. The reason for changing the "Alibaba International Station Intellectual Property Rules" is that in order to better comply with relevant domestic and foreign laws and regulations, promote the sustainable and healthy development of merchants on Alibaba International Station, and help merchants ship products in compliance with regulations during their operations, the platform has refined the separate penalty rules for infringements in the transaction process.

This time, the "Alibaba International Station Intellectual Property Rules" mainly update Article 6. Before the change, the infringement scenarios included but were not limited to: product information (title, attributes, detailed description, pictures, videos, etc.), store information (store name, store decoration, etc.), interactive information, and transactions, evaluations, and disputes. If a user infringes in the above different scenarios, the platform will impose separate penalties, and the penalties will be cumulative.

After the change, a description of the transaction process is added. If the transaction process is suspected of infringement or malicious circumvention, the platform payment channel will be frozen separately. The first violation will be frozen for 30 days, the second violation will be frozen for 60 days, and the third violation will permanently freeze the platform payment channel.

The "Alibaba International Station Intellectual Property Rules" show that Alibaba International Station is committed to intellectual property protection and strictly prohibits users from publishing, selling or promising to sell products that are suspected of infringing on the intellectual property rights of third parties without authorization.

If a user publishes information suspected of infringing a third party's intellectual property rights, or sells or promises to sell goods suspected of infringing a third party's intellectual property rights, he or she may be complained or reported by the intellectual property owner. The platform will also randomly check store information, product information, product group names, etc. If infringement is suspected, the information and goods will be returned or deleted, and penalties will be imposed based on the type of infringement.
