1. IntroductionRecently, several classmates read my previous materials and paid attention to one of the key points I raised: "Before starting a business, first explore your personal values and advantages." Then he came to me and asked me: How can I find my own strengths and values? I really can't find them. That's not right. Are you really worthless? Living without value, are you just a walking corpse? As the old saying goes: "God has given me talents to be useful!" Each of us who can live in this world has our own unique personal value, it’s just that you have not found the right way to discover the shining points in yourself. Of course, it is also possible that you are too familiar with yourself, and some of your bright spots may have become commonplace and have been ignored by you. Well, I will use this article to give a unified answer! After reading this article, you will find your own shining points and the personal values and advantages that you have overlooked. 2. You don’t understand, but I understand that you don’t understandBefore we begin, let's do a little experiment: Please clap your hands to the rhythm of the nursery rhyme "Little Donkey" without speaking or humming, and then ask the person next to you to say the name of the song. There is no doubt that more than 90% of people will not be able to guess which song you are recording, even if you think the rhythm you recorded is obvious. This is a very famous psychology experiment. This experiment tells us two things: 1. Others cannot see what is in your mind. You are the only one who knows it best. 2. It is difficult for you to understand knowledge that you already understand but others do not; At this time, two very interesting phenomena emerged: 1. You think that what you understand, others understand; 2. Things that you think are simple may also be considered simple by others. In other words, once you have learned something, it is difficult for you to imagine or understand why the other person "doesn't understand". You may think: Why do I still not understand such a simple thing even though I have explained it several times? Parents who teach their children to do homework, do you have a deep understanding of this situation? Even worse: As long as you cannot understand why the other person "doesn't understand", you will not be able to "empathize" with the other person; At this moment, you lose the "empathy" for those people who "don't understand" this knowledge or skill. The above passage is a bit difficult to understand, but it is very important! Let's take a very simple example: When you sit on a bicycle, do you need to think about how to ride it? Can you pretend that you can't ride a bicycle? But if I give you a task now, asking you to teach a 20-year-old boy to ride a bicycle, would you think, is it necessary to teach such a simple thing? Can't he just ride it and go? Can you imagine the helpless feeling of having your bicycle fall over if someone else rides on it? Can you imagine the tension and fear a 20-year-old boy feels when learning to ride a bicycle, and having to endure the shame of being despised by you? For you who learned to ride a bicycle at a young age, riding a bicycle is as easy as drinking water; But you don’t know how to teach this 20-year-old boy to ride a bike. You can’t empathize with him, you can’t understand his inner confusion, you just think he is stupid. But I regret to tell you: The moment you have this thought, it means that your thinking is limited by yourself. This is a curse! This is the way most people look at things, but as an entrepreneur, you have to think outside of this box. One day when you have an "empathetic" mindset and break free from this mental limitation, you will suddenly discover that the market is actually very broad, and you will see many market demands that you have previously ignored. Cases that happened to me: I remember very clearly that when I visited a relative in the countryside to pay New Year's greetings two years ago, I saw that the vegetables he grew had a high yield, so I asked him how he grew them. I was full of envy and wanted him to teach me. But he replied to me nonchalantly: Growing vegetables is such a simple thing, what is there to learn, everyone can do it! At that moment it dawned on me: growing vegetables is actually very simple for farmers, but it is very difficult for people who grew up in towns or cities. After I returned, I designed a model for a student, asking him to teach urban residents how to grow vegetables on their balconies through short videos, and also designed a set of products; He did as he was told, but after about a year, with the rise of short videos, this model was copied by many people, causing chaos in the market. This is the popular "realizing balcony vegetable freedom" segment. Then he felt that the profit was not high enough, and the market was chaotic, so he came to me for consultation again. I re-positioned him in a more detailed way. The target group was still the balcony party, but I changed the angle. The customer group had a higher purchasing power. I heard that he seems to be doing quite well now. If you are interested in the specific product direction, you can ask me, but I cannot talk about it publicly because we are still working on it. Therefore, this is a very important way of thinking for entrepreneurs. Later, I put this key thinking of "analyzing your own advantages before starting a business" in the second lesson of the course "Light Entrepreneurship from 0 to 1", which shows how much importance I attach to this point. 3. Buyers and Sellers’ PerspectivePeople often ask me: Why are my products so good, but customers don’t buy them? Usually I would ask him back: What is good about your product? Then he would talk about all kinds of materials, ingredients, employee wages, production costs, and say "My product is the best!" This situation is usually just "self-satisfaction". You think your product is very good, the quality is very good, the materials are also top-notch, and the price is very cheap, but customers just don't buy it. Every seller or manufacturer thinks that their product is the best, but they just can't understand why customers don't buy it. The reason is actually very simple, because he only looks at the product from his own perspective. Usually when I encounter this kind of situation, I will first help the other party sort out some details and selling points that he thinks are unimportant and have been overlooked by him; Help him switch from the seller's perspective to the buyer's perspective and avoid being self-satisfied. Because the perspective from which sellers or manufacturers view products is different from that from which consumers view products. So many times, sellers always introduce products and find selling points from their own perspective, but buyers may not be interested in this information at all. Sometimes, a detail that the seller thinks is unimportant may be considered a highlight and be of great interest to the buyer. Just like what we were familiar with back then: Robust’s pure water that has undergone “27 levels of purification”. This once popular success story has been told by many teachers, and the stories are very complicated. In fact, Teacher Fox can explain it clearly in one sentence, which is just the switching between the "buyer's perspective" and the "seller's perspective". For pure water manufacturers, 27-layer purification is the most common process in the industry, but from the buyer's perspective, this is a very professional pure water filtration process. So this is a good slogan to shape the value of the product. Anyway, from the buyer's perspective, it is impressive. Just like my relative's answer above, from a farmer's perspective, he only sees the simple skills of farmers in growing vegetables, but what I see is the city people's desire to grow green vegetables on the balcony and have a sense of accomplishment in eating the vegetables they grow themselves. These are two completely different perspectives, one is the buyer's perspective, and the other is the seller's perspective. We must train ourselves to switch between multiple perspectives at any time so that we can see more opportunities. For someone who is familiar with a certain skill or knowledge point, it seems really simple from his perspective, but you have to understand that your so-called simple skill is not understood by everyone in the world. In fact, many things that seem very common from an expert's perspective are actually very rare and scarce resources from a consumer's perspective. Therefore, we need to re-evaluate our own value from the other party’s perspective and habitually judge these seemingly common phenomena from the perspective of buyers and sellers; Otherwise, you will always think that what you understand are "worthless" things, which will blind your eyes in finding business opportunities and make you lose many opportunities to make money. 4. Breaking the curseNow that you've been cursed, you have to break it. Here, Teacher Fox will give you a 1.0 version of the cracking method, which can at least solve 80% of your problems! First of all, for my students, when you finish reading the second lesson and still cannot find the value you can provide to others, nor can you find any advantages, you are likely to have fallen into the two “curses” mentioned above. If you haven’t watched the course, it doesn’t matter. You are just missing a small part of the content. You can just follow the method below and it will be effective. How to break this curse? It’s not difficult, here are two methods: 1. Awareness is the breaking ofJust like the saying: When you realize you are wrong, you have already started to be right. The moment you finish reading Teacher Fox's article and realize that you have this problem, you have already broken one third of the curse; The remaining two thirds require you to break through through daily deliberate practice, because only you can help yourself. You can start with a certain field you want to work in and vaguely identify a customer group. As long as you find that your knowledge or skills are useful to them, this direction makes sense. Then slowly carry out refined positioning of the crowd, clarify the products step by step, find your own model, and your business map will become clearer and clearer. 2. List skillsYou can list all the skills you have ever learned, all the relevant knowledge, and the fields involved. In this process, don’t ignore any details. Even if you learn the “method of learning”, it is a skill and you can teach others how to learn. At the same time, you can also recall: a. What types of things do your colleagues and friends usually ask you for help with? This means that you are familiar with this field, which is also your advantage. b. What kind of books, videos, and movies do you like to watch? You can find your personality traits and the types of content you like here, and you can infer what type of products you are suitable for based on these contents; c. What are the results you get from doing the things you like to do or are used to doing? Even if it is a small thing, you can record it, and then expand and dig deeper. This is a very important information point. Let's take point C as an example: Suppose you sit for a long time at work, and you have a habit every morning: you like to use a blender to blend yam, longan, peanuts, red dates, wolfberry and other ingredients into a paste as your daily breakfast, and then make a cup of XX tea before going to work. Then after a while you discover: Your colleagues in the office often show signs of constipation, but you don’t; Other colleagues have dark and yellow complexions, but you have a rosy complexion; Many people are infected during the epidemic, or many people catch colds when the seasons change every year, but you are fine. Could this be related to your daily habit? You can research it if so. This seemingly insignificant habit can be packaged as a set of health care methods for people who sit and work for a long time; You can sell products, provide training, and do daily check-ins in communities. Of course, I am just giving an example here. I have not tried the specific materials or methods, and I don’t have the recipe. However, through these few simple methods, you can also find your unique personal value! 5. SummaryThere are many things that are very simple for you but may be very difficult for others. They need someone to tell them how to do it or even help them do it. This can generate a lot of service market demands, right? Just like simple things like cleaning the house and tidying up the room, don’t they occupy a large market share in the housekeeping field? Many people think that they are unremarkable and just an ordinary person. Actually, it is not like that. What you think is "ordinary" may be a huge treasure in the eyes of others.
You always think that the skills and knowledge you have mastered are simple, but in fact, they are really difficult for people who don’t understand them. The curse I mentioned in this article is actually a huge bug in the human brain! So most people will have this confusion, including myself! A lot of knowledge is a simple basic for me, but it is really difficult for most people. Sometimes I myself cannot understand it, and cannot jump out of this framework to answer students’ questions, which makes me very painful sometimes. Ok, the above are some experiences I have summarized based on actual combat! This article is quite long. If you can read this patiently, Teacher Fox will give you a thumbs up. In this age of information overload, if you have the patience to study hard, you have already surpassed 90% of people. This is also one of your advantages! So, congratulations, you’ve found your first edge through this article! Author: Fox Loves Nonsense |
