How to choose logistics for an independent website? What are the categories of logistics?

If we want to do cross-border e-commerce, it is still necessary to understand the relevant content. Doing cross-border e-commerce requires solving logistics problems. So how to choose logistics for independent sites? The following content will give you relevant introduction.

How should independent website sellers choose the right logistics? It is recommended that you must first understand the differences, advantages and disadvantages between different logistics before making a choice, so that you can choose the one that is truly suitable for you and achieve the greatest results.

Sellers need to understand the following aspects of supply chain service providers:

1. Customs rules

The customs of each country has its own import laws and regulations. The materials that need to be submitted and the payment requirements for each brand are also different. Only by mastering the customs clearance rules of each country can you be considered a qualified logistics supply chain service provider.

2. Cargo control

This is actually a pain point faced by many companies and sellers today. It would be best if we could achieve full control of the supply chain.

3. Services

The delivery time and return process will directly affect customers' purchasing decisions. As a supply chain service provider, you must develop a reasonable management model to achieve real-time reporting in every link of cargo transportation.

What are the categories of logistics?

Direct mail is more suitable for small and medium-sized sellers, and the threshold is relatively low. It usually consists of three stages: domestic collection, domestic transportation, and overseas delivery. Moreover, most small and medium-sized sellers do not have the channels and capabilities to prepare goods. Choosing direct mail parcels can also avoid the risks of unsalable products and customs clearance. It is understood that the sales orders of domestic e-commerce sellers on foreign platforms are mainly divided into two modes: 1. Cross-border direct mail 2. Overseas warehousing. Among them, cross-border direct mail accounts for 60% and overseas warehousing accounts for 40%.

The main customer groups for cross-border direct mail are sellers on third-party platforms such as eBay, Wish, Joom, and AliExpress. According to the logistics channels, they can be divided into the following three categories:

1. Commercial express delivery, such as: DHL, FedEx, UPS, advantages: fast speed, normally it can arrive in about 3-4 days, disadvantages: high price and cost, but small profit.

2. Direct mail line: This is the most popular model among sellers. Orders can be sent at any time without the need to stock up large quantities of goods. The speed is between postal and commercial express delivery. This is very suitable for sellers who run independent sites.

3. Postal service: There are China Post and foreign postal services, which are further divided into ordinary mail and registered mail channels. Advantages: affordable prices, few restrictions on goods, and some sensitive items can also be sent. Disadvantages: slow speed and difficulty in guaranteeing timeliness.

Overseas warehouses are suitable for medium or large sellers with large volumes of goods. They can provide localized services. The distribution process is to first deliver the goods to overseas storage centers and then ship them when there are orders. Cross-border e-commerce overseas warehouses are asset-heavy, operation-heavy, and have high entry barriers. The speed is generally around 1-2 days. The calculation formula for overseas storage costs is as follows:

Overseas warehousing fee = first-leg freight (freight from China to overseas warehouses) + warehousing and handling fees (storage fees incurred when goods are stored in overseas warehouses and handling fees incurred before the warehouse delivers goods) + local delivery fee (refers to the local express delivery fee incurred when goods are delivered in the country and region of the delivery location)
