Recyclable jewelry live broadcasts are madly harvesting the elderly: crying while broadcasting, dozens of yuan of bracelets claim to be recycled for millions of yuan, and the anchor has more than 10 billion yuan in change

Recently, there are many people who are obsessed with buying antiques and jewelry in live broadcasts, especially the elderly. They watch several similar broadcasts every day and are addicted to them. They even start to borrow money from their relatives to place orders, and their children can't persuade them. This article will take this as a starting point to explore how recycling jewelry live broadcasts harvest the elderly. If you are interested, you can take a look.

A few days ago at around 11pm, I received a message from my 70-year-old aunt:

"Are you asleep? Can you give me a thousand dollars?"

Me: “Tomorrow.”

Aunt: "Now use it to buy things"

Me: “What to buy? Don’t be cheated.”

Aunt: "Antiques, Kuaishou live broadcast room, no need, it's over"

I called her the next day and found out that my aunt had recently become obsessed with buying antiques and jewelry from livestreams. These antiques and jewelry promised to be bought back for hundreds of thousands or millions of yuan, and they also gave her a pension every month, because these anchors were "doing charity" and some were "keeping and raising" them in the hands of buyers to avoid "dividing property" because of divorce. My aunt had already spent thousands of yuan to buy some bottles, jars and bracelets, expecting the anchors to come to her house to buy them back and make a fortune with millions of funds. She watched several similar anchors every day and was addicted to them. She even started to borrow money from her relatives one by one to place orders, and her children could not persuade her.

After several days of investigation, the author found that these antique jewelry anchors who promised to recycle may be a gang. They arranged various tragic plots and even claimed to be sons in front of fans to gain sympathy. They then promised high returns, claimed to cure diseases, and performed various magic shows to deceive fans' trust and induce fans to place orders. Most of those deceived are elderly people.

1. Buying bracelets and cultural relics, the highest recycling price is 15 million . The more orders you place, the priority you will get, and you will get a pension every month.

Let’s take a look at a few live broadcast rooms first.

The first is a live broadcast room called "Poly Jewelry Group".

The anchors sold various kinds of collectibles and bracelets in the live broadcast room, calling them "雮尘珠" and "避尘珠". The prices of these products ranged from tens or hundreds of yuan to thousands or even tens of thousands of yuan.

But the point is not whether these cultural and artistic accessories are worth it, but the anchor's "solemn promise" to consumers. I will post a screen recording for you to feel:

The above is a live broadcaster selling a cultural bracelet priced at 99 yuan. At the same time, he promised that as long as more than 10 orders are placed in the live broadcast room, he would buy it back for 50,000 yuan in the future. The more orders you place, the higher the priority for recycling.

This is equivalent to investing 99 yuan and making a net profit of more than 5,000 times in the future. I am afraid that there is no financial product or investment method that can have such a high rate of return at present.

Of course, this is not the most "cruel" one.

The same anchor, when promoting a "dust-repellent bead", promised that as long as consumers placed more than 10 orders, they would be given 5,000 yuan per month from 2024 to 2034, for a total of 600,000 yuan;

It’s not over yet.

When introducing another bracelet priced at 52.1 yuan, the anchor initially promised to buy it back for 50,000 yuan in the future; but after a while he changed his mind and said he was willing to give 3,000 yuan per month until the total amount reached 1 million yuan.

Let’s look at a few more anchors.

In a live broadcast room called "Moxi Jewelry", the anchor promised that as long as you buy 5 products priced at 94.1 yuan, you will be given 20,000 yuan per month. The anchor also vowed solemnly that "if you cheat, God will punish you."

The anchor of "Jiu Mu Tang Wen Wan" is actually the anchor of "Mo Xi Jewelry" mentioned above, but he just changed his account number. In his recent live broadcast, he even shouted out the promise of "recovering 15 million yuan" and a monthly pension of 50,000 yuan, and the specific time is "when spring comes and flowers bloom."

In a live broadcast room called "Four Seasons Jewelry", the anchor promised that for anyone who bought 100 to 200 of a necklace priced at 1 yuan, the anchor would buy them back at 4,000 yuan per piece.

In the same live broadcast room, the anchor also introduced a bracelet made of unknown material. He not only promoted its functions of curing diseases and purifying the air, but also promised that the buyer would buy it back for 200,000 yuan in the future.

Let’s take a look at another interesting one. In a live broadcast room called “Heyun Jewelry”, the host was broadcasting live when a group of people suddenly broke into the room and “beat and insulted” him.

After being beaten, the anchor sat in front of the camera and began to cry about being maliciously bullied by the locals, while putting a bracelet on the shelf with a price tag of one yuan, calling on family members to come and buy it. Of course, the anchor also promised to pay 5,000 yuan for "storage fees."

Another live broadcast room called "Nongmo Jewelry" directly advertised that its products have the effect of curing diseases, and also stated that they would be recycled at a price of 5.8 million.

Are there many anchors who sell cultural relics and jewelry in this way? The answer is quite a lot. I am even worried that this has become a "new trend" in selling goods, and I am afraid that more and more people will be deceived.

All of the above anchors promised high-price recycling and induced users to place more orders. They are suspected of serious false advertising and even fraud.

2. Calling fans in the live broadcast room "sister, uncle, aunt" and targeting the elderly, trying every means to empty their wallets

As mentioned earlier, the targets of this batch of "fraud" in the live broadcast room may be mainly middle-aged and elderly people. The reason is that the author found that in the live broadcast room mentioned above, the anchors called fans either "sister" or "uncle and aunt".

In addition, when introducing the redemption price, some anchors described the money as a "pension". Some anchors called themselves "sons" and said, "Believe me, the screen will say 'son'."

More direct evidence is that in the comment sections of videos posted by some accounts, many fans are middle-aged and elderly people.

Faced with the middle-aged and elderly consumer groups who lack "anti-fraud" awareness, these anchors also try their best and play all kinds of tricks to make everyone believe that they have the ability to buy back at a high price.

Moreover, some of these anchors directly incited fans to "buy even if they have to borrow money", while others explicitly or implicitly hinted that the elderly should spend more money.

The various routines of anchors:

1. Package yourself

Using the names of some big companies or groups to package oneself is a common trick in false propaganda, and these anchors are no exception.

Like the account "Poly Jewelry Group" mentioned earlier, this name seems to be closely related to Poly Group, which makes the live broadcast room seem more credible.

But in fact, the author's investigation found that although Poly Group has invested in jewelry business, there is no such organization or entity as "Poly Jewelry Group" on its official website or industrial and commercial information.

In the live broadcast room of "Nong Mo Jewelry", the anchor once showed the so-called "Poly Auction Medicinal Materials Contract" during the live broadcast. The official seal on the contract showed that the company was "Nong Mo Jewelry Co., Ltd."

However, the author did not find this company on the industrial and commercial platform.

However, the store certification information published by these anchors on the short video platform "betrayed" them.

The business license of the small shop associated with the live broadcast room of "Poly Jewelry Group" shows that it is actually an individual business called "Wanzai County JiaXjing Department Store".

The business license of the small shop associated with the "Four Seasons Jewelry" live broadcast room shows that it is an individual business called "Wanzai County Gui X Department Store."

The business license of the small shop associated with the "Moxi Jewelry" live broadcast room shows that it is an individual business called "Wanzai County Tong Xmai Department Store".

2. Various scripts, creating a pitiful character who cries while broadcasting

Everyone has scars on their faces.

Some divorces avoid dividing property, some family members are hospitalized due to car accidents and spend 30,000 yuan a day‍‍

The most easily exposed point in this scam is "How stupid does a person have to be to sell at a low price and buy back at a high price?"

"As the saying goes, some people will do business that will get them killed, but no one will do business that will lose them money."

Therefore, in order to make this scam seem logical, these anchors usually create various scripts and build up a pitiful persona.

For example, the anchor of "Poly Jewelry Group" repeatedly and "sincerely" emphasized in the live broadcast room that he was about to file for divorce with his wife, and once the court made a ruling, his batch of goods would have to be divided up by his wife.

In order to prevent the goods from being divided up, the anchor sells them to consumers at a low price, and then buys them back at a high price after the lawsuit is settled. This is equivalent to the consumer "keeping" the goods for the anchor.

Another anchor, "Nong Mo Jewelry", told the audience in the live broadcast room that his parents were hit by a competitor and his grandfather was also hospitalized, with the hospital bill costing 30,000 yuan a day.

What’s even funnier is that many of these anchors will often claim that they were “beaten”, but those so-called wounds are obviously makeup effects, there are no wounds at all.

Of course, there are some crying and tears during the live broadcast. Some anchors even call themselves sons, look pitiful, and yell from time to time.

This "personality" can indeed attract a group of sympathetic fans. Under the daily videos of some live broadcast accounts, you can also see fans posting content such as "I feel sorry for the anchor".

But in reality, these plots may not be tenable.

For example, regarding the so-called fear of divorce lawsuits, someone around the author pointed out that if this statement is true, and the anchor evades divorce property division by means of capital turnover, then what the anchor said in the live broadcast room will become evidence of his wife's property division, and it is unlikely that a normal person would do such a thing openly.

Those who use videos and photos to prove that their parents or grandfather are sick, injured, or hospitalized may use pictures from the Internet.

3. Use official media and celebrities to endorse

Some anchors will also claim that they have been reported by local TV stations, CCTV and other media, and even have some celebrities and public figures endorse them.

The host of the "Poly Jewelry Group" account showed in a live broadcast that he had been on Shandong TV's news, and at an event, Jackie Chan seemed to endorse the value of the bracelets he sold. However, these so-called news and celebrity endorsement images may have been produced through post-production dubbing, because the voice broadcast was obviously the voice of AI.

The author searched the historical information of Shandong TV Station and found that there was no report about the anchor's promotion. There was no related report about the so-called Jackie Chan's endorsement. In addition, the news shown by the anchor mentioned that "the anchor signed a cooperation agreement with the Medical Electronic Engineering Technology Center."

The author was also unable to find any so-called "Medical Electronic Engineering Technology Center" across the country.

4. Bundles of huge banknotes are placed on the table

In order to prove their "money power", many of these live broadcast rooms will put RMB on the table:

This pile is 100,000 yuan. There are about ten piles on the table, and the total amount should be more than 1 million yuan. The anchor will also pick it up and show it to everyone to prove his strength.

However, the author noticed that all the RMB 100-yuan notes that appeared in the live broadcast room were suspected to be from the 2005 edition. In addition, judging from the picture, the watermark area of the 100-yuan banknotes in the live broadcast room lacked the code stamp.

Here is a real banknote for comparison. You can see that the steel stamp is clearly visible on the back of the real banknote.

On the e-commerce platform, the RMB banknote props are very cheap. The packaging is almost the same as that in the live broadcast room, and they are all from the Agricultural Bank of China.

5. Various magic tricks: beads can emit smoke and dust can be dispersed

In some live broadcast rooms, in order to promote the "disease-curing" effects of their bracelets, the hosts will also demonstrate some "mysterious phenomena".

For example, if the host holds a string of chains and rubs them on his hands twice, smoke will come out.

A host advertised that his bracelet can purify the air and cleanse the unclean things around you. The host took out a cup of yellow unknown liquid and said that the liquid contained various "toxins". Then he poured the yellow liquid into a bowl of water containing the bracelet, but the water in the bowl remained transparent and did not change color. So the host said that this was because the bracelet absorbed the toxins.

There is also a host who promotes that the "dust-repellent beads" he sells are really "dust-repellent". He rubbed the beads on the table, and at the same time, there was a plate filled with water next to him, and the surface of the water was covered with sand and dust. When the host placed the beads in the center of the plate, the sand and dust automatically dispersed and would not stick to the beads.

A host demonstrated how to make an empty bowl change color. He first showed an empty bowl, then poured clean water into it and poured it out. The water turned yellow; after pouring clean water for the second time, the color became a darker yellow.

There are also anchors showing off the beads they sell, which can exude a blood-like color when soaked in water.

But in fact, the author's aunt bought the beads that the anchor could rub to produce smoke, but she couldn't rub any smoke. So it's not hard for smart people to understand that this is nothing more than some special phenomena similar to magic or the special properties of certain materials, but the anchor deliberately promoted it as having the effect of "curing diseases" and so on.

For example, if you use special props and materials and master the method, anyone can "rub your hands to make smoke." However, the middle-aged and elderly people who don't know the details will really believe it blindly and then place orders crazily.

6. WeChat has over 10 billion in change

This routine is similar to the routine of putting RMB on the table in front of me. Some anchors will deliberately show their WeChat change balance to fans. And this routine is also the most outrageous to me.

Let’s first look at the female anchor above. She showed everyone that her WeChat balance is over 600 million, and she also said that she would send it all to her fans today.

There are things funnier than putting 600 million in change.

The anchor showed off his WeChat balance in the live broadcast room: more than 13.4 billion, which is actually close to 13.5 billion.

The author feels that these anchors are completely insulting the public's IQ.

Ordinary people may have no idea about 13.4 billion. For example, Xiaomi, a listed company, invested 13.2 billion yuan in research and development in 2021. So, this ordinary anchor who sells jewelry has huge financial resources comparable to the research and development investment of listed companies. Instead of enjoying life, he works hard every day as an anchor to give benefits to his family?

In fact, through some third-party software, it is completely possible to "customize" the WeChat change balance, and you can write as much as you want. In fact, in the real WeChat change interface, there is a comma after the sentence "Transfer to Zero Change Account," but the change interface shown by the anchor in the live broadcast does not have a comma after "Transfer to Zero Change Account."

Even if the anchor's 13.4 billion is true, not to mention that there is a daily limit on bank transfers to WeChat, it would take dozens or even hundreds of years to transfer more than 13 billion. Why put this money in change? Even if it is a change account or a regular bank current account, wouldn't it be more attractive to earn interest?

7. Create a sense of luxury and scarcity, then suddenly slash the price

In order to create a sense of luxury for the bracelets, necklaces and other products they sell, the anchors will make up stories or change high prices into low prices to induce purchases.

For example, when "Poly Jewelry Group" introduced a necklace and a plaque made of unknown material during a live broadcast, the host would hint explicitly or implicitly that it was some kind of whale from the deep sea.

Perhaps out of fear of violating the rules, the anchor did not dare to say the word "whale" out loud. He just let the fans see his mouth shape and described it as "it's in the deep sea, you know."

In addition, the anchor will first put the goods on the shelves at a high price, and after some publicity and promises of repurchase, etc., he will suddenly drop the price to an incredibly low price.

For example, a live streamer put a bracelet on sale for 10,000 yuan, saying that anyone who bought it would be sold back at a high price in the future. After the rhythm and atmosphere were set, the host announced that the price would be changed to 500 yuan.

With prices so high, many middle-aged and elderly consumers are afraid that they will really feel that they have gotten a great bargain.

In fact, you can buy cultural relics bracelets with similar appearance and materials for just a few yuan or tens of yuan on other e-commerce platforms.

8. The comments section is full of "shills" to create atmosphere

In order to further increase its credibility, the live broadcast room is suspected to be full of "shills".

The author found that when these anchors were broadcasting live, the comment section was very lively, with many people posting comments such as buying the anchor's products and reselling them at high prices; or saying that after buying the anchor's products, their old ailments were much better.

This is most likely the "atmosphere group" invited by the live broadcast room. Their purpose is of course to make real consumers believe in their routines and place more orders.

9. Successful case sharing, helping grandpa and grandma to get a Mercedes-Benz PUA for the elderly

The anchor will also show some "successful cases" in the live broadcast room, such as promoting that an old man or woman bought a Mercedes-Benz with her own help.

However, the author discovered that the picture of the so-called elderly people happily buying a Mercedes-Benz actually came from a news item in April this year, and the content of the news certainly had nothing to do with any jewelry live broadcast room.

The anchor also said that he bought an Audi A8 for his father, and the license plate number was a leopard number "7777". The anchor himself drove a Rolls-Royce. However, during the demonstration, a carpooling group message popped up on the anchor's phone: "Linyi carpooling 100 yuan per person."

The author just wants to say: How ridiculous.

In addition to "sharing success stories", these anchors also do PUA for the elderly.

Before recommending products, some anchors emphasized that "the elderly should not burden their children" and "urge" the elderly to buy them.

10. Promised recycling is still a long way off

The last trick I want to talk about is that all the high-price buybacks promised by the anchors are actually empty promises.

For example, the host of the live broadcast room of "Jiu Mu Tang Wen Wan" mentioned above promised to return 15 million in the future, but the return time was an ambiguous time such as "spring is warm and flowers are blooming". ‍‍‍‍Another host said that the collection would be made on December 11th and December 12th, but he did not start the broadcast today.

The author consulted the customer service staff of several live broadcast rooms and asked about the so-called recycling promise, and the answers he got were almost all "listen to the host". However, when the host introduced it in the live broadcast room, he only said that there would be recycling, but it was not clear when and how the recycling would be done.

At the same time, the author also tried to contact some users who claimed to have purchased products in the live broadcast room. Some users replied that they bought them two days ago, but were not informed of the recycling time and method.

However, a customer service representative of a live broadcast room stated that they would sign a contract with everyone when the items are recycled, but the time of recycling would still be "determined by the host."

The author's aunt has not received any recycling notifications for the many pieces of jewelry and antiques she bought. After adding the anchor as a friend on WeChat, she was not added to the group because she said the group was full. The anchor also frequently changed his live broadcast account, saying that his original account had been blocked.

To sum up, everything in these live broadcast rooms may be fake, the only real thing is that they ask you to spend money to buy things.

3. Scam logic: high returns as bait to lure consumers to place more orders, the elderly are willing to empty their pockets, and the recycling jewelry live broadcast may be the same team

Common consumer fraud involves packaging counterfeit and shoddy goods as high-end authentic products and selling them at prices far higher than the actual prices of the goods.

But in the case of jewelry consumer fraud discussed today, the core logic is not whether the products sold by the anchor are counterfeit or inferior, but to use all means to make consumers buy more.

After winning the sympathy and trust of the elderly, the anchors will then preach some truths such as "reducing the financial burden on children". The elderly are likely to try their best to place more orders, and in order to seek high returns, they are not hesitant to empty their pension funds or borrow money.

In other words, the goods sold in the live broadcast room are not necessarily counterfeit or inferior goods. As long as they can attract consumers to place orders with high returns, their purpose is achieved. Therefore, many anchors advertise that the more orders you place, the more rewards you can get first.

Therefore, the live broadcast room uses cheap goods as bait on the one hand, and wildly promotes high recycling prices on the other hand. Even if consumers find that they have been cheated after placing an order, they may not pursue the matter because the loss is not large.

Even the things they sell to consumers are not counterfeit or shoddy products, but they just fail to fulfill their promise of recycling them at a high price. The deceived consumers may not care too much about this.

In the window of the live broadcast room of "Poly Jewelry Group", the sales volume of goods is not large but not small either, and it is not uncommon to sell nearly a thousand pieces. This accumulation of small amounts will inevitably make bad merchants earn a lot of money.

The author found that if these live broadcast rooms were banned from broadcasting due to violations, they would immediately change their accounts and start broadcasting. Then they would explain to their fans that it was because they sold at too low a price and were reported by their peers.

When I was watching a live broadcast yesterday, a host happened to encounter a "violation notice" issued by the platform, but unexpectedly, the host was calm and immediately explained to fans that he was excluded by his peers. Seeing this, fans felt even more distressed for the host, and did not realize that the host violated the rules because of "false plot interpretation, malicious hype and other bad behaviors."

It is common for this type of live broadcast room to "shoot and move to another location".

During the investigation, the author noticed that most of the jewelry live streaming shops in this model have business licenses bound to "Wanzai County xxx Department Store" and have similar business registration dates. In addition, the author found that the goods purchased in different live streaming rooms were shipped by Donghai County, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province.

Moreover, the decoration styles of several different live broadcast rooms are quite similar, such as suspended ceilings, crocodile leather-patterned desktops, etc. It is hard not to suspect that they are a team, live streaming and selling goods in the same live broadcast base.

Finally, the author calls on friends who read this article to forward it to their elderly family members and check their balances. There is no good thing in the world that can get huge returns without any effort, and there is no financial product that can get nearly a thousand times the return so stably.

Also, don't adopt the mentality of "the things are cheap anyway, so it doesn't matter if I get cheated". If you let unscrupulous merchants make a fortune today, they may have more ruthless tricks to empty your pockets tomorrow.

Remember, remember.
