The same product has different prices, why is it still selling well?

Customers often compare many platforms to choose the best one, but why are the same products sold at different prices on so many channels, and they are still selling very well? This article explains the reason, I hope it will be helpful to you.

Hello, fellow villagers. I am the village chief.

Why can the same product be sold on channels such as Douyin, Kuaishou, Xiaohongshu, Zhihu, official accounts, Kuaituantuan, group chain, Moments, and video accounts in addition to Taobao, JD.com, and Pinduoduo?

The most important point is that the prices on each platform vary greatly.

In the minds of many people, sometimes when it comes to selling products through a certain channel, their first reaction is that this product can be bought on Taobao or Pinduoduo. Now everyone is buying things on Taobao and Pinduoduo, so how can you sell it if you sell it at a high price?

It is precisely because of this fixed thinking that many people miss opportunities such as social e-commerce, social group buying, private domain sharing, and Douyin sales.

So today the village chief will share with you how the same product can be sold through so many channels with different prices, and how it can be sold so well.

1. Information Gap

The most direct example is Taobao coupons. The Taobao business has been around for nearly 20 years.

Getting coupons from Taobao Alliance for shopping is not only cheaper but also earns you commissions. But you think everyone in the country knows this. In fact, at least 50% of people in the country don’t know this.

That is to say, if you ask two people around you, at least one of them does not know how to shop through Taobao channels.

So until now, there are still many teams doing Taobao group orders. Maybe the income is less, but at least it is still continuing.

By the way, let me ask you, did you know that there are commissions and coupons when buying things on Douyin?

There are tens of millions of products, but not every user knows that it is very cheap in a certain channel.

2. Poor service

The same product has different prices on Pinduoduo, Taobao, and JD.com. Generally speaking, from low to high, JD.com is the most expensive.

Similarly, when we usually send express delivery, SF Express and JD.com are more expensive, while ZTO and STO are relatively cheaper.

In fact, the destination, product weight, quantity and size are exactly the same, but because SF Express and JD.com deliver faster and preserve better, many people will choose the former even if it is two or three yuan more expensive.

So sometimes, even though the things bought on Taobao and in WeChat communities are the same, the community group owners are better at answering questions, shipping, and after-sales service, so users will also buy through these channels.

3. Trust gap

Why do some people prefer to buy the same product from acquaintances or friends?

When it comes to sending digital products, most people prefer express delivery companies such as JD.com, Dada, and SF Express. One of the reasons is trust.

Just like many people in Xuchang like to go to Pangdonglai Supermarket to buy things. Some things may be a little expensive, but they are safe.

The items are clean and hygienic, they are weighed correctly, and there is no delay in returning the goods. Compensation is also given. The core of the transaction is trust, which is what everyone calls trust in e-commerce and trust in the economy. After going to Pang Donglai, you will know how big the gap is between other supermarkets!

For example, when I buy oranges, bayberries, and tea every year, there are many online channels, but I always choose to buy them from my friends’ communities and friend circles because I trust them.

4. Cognitive Difference

Do you think the products on Pinduoduo are good? There must be many people who think they are not good, and many of them have never bought anything from Pinduoduo.

Do you think the products on JD.com are good? Some people must think they are very reliable, but I have bought several products that are not as good as Pinduoduo, and the price is more expensive.

How much do you think it costs to buy a 260g long-staple cotton T-shirt? Some people think 49 yuan is enough, but some people think it should be at least 99 yuan, and some people think 169 is not expensive.

Because everyone's consumption perception is different, what you think is expensive may be a reasonable price for some people because this is the perception formed by the environment they are exposed to.

When it comes to Kuaishou and Pinduoduo, everyone thinks that there are no high-quality products on these two platforms, and that to buy good things one should go to JD.com and Tmall. But in fact, there are thousands or tens of thousands of products on Pinduoduo.

For example, everyone thinks it is difficult to sell goods through Zhihu, Xiaohongshu, Video Account, Public Account, Toutiao Account, and Xianyu Account, but there are precisely many people who are making money quietly through these channels.

5. Poor crowd

There are many elderly people around me who like to buy things on Video Account and Pinduoduo, many young people like to buy on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, and many mothers like to buy through community group buying and social e-commerce channels.

Of course, there are still many people who like to buy in their circle of friends, and there are even channels that no one would think of.

For example, you can buy it on public accounts such as Fengchao and Postal Service, or on Alipay.

Because people of different age groups and channels are different, some people with high incomes like to buy on Oriental Selection, some like to wait in the 9.9 live broadcast room, and some like to grab coupons in WeChat groups.

Different groups of people will choose different products to consume, especially when purchasing high-order products, and sometimes they prefer to find friends.

6. Poor welfare

The last and most common point that everyone thinks of is poor welfare.

For example, when selling on WeChat private domain, there is no platform commission and advertising fees, so the pricing can be lower.

On Kuaishou and Douyin, some big anchors may receive a subsidy of three to five yuan from merchants and bloggers in order to increase followers, traffic, and provide benefits.

Some will also make packages, where the price of a single item may be 9.9, but three items only cost 19.9, which will also attract some users.

So everyone, due to a variety of combined reasons, many products flow through various channels.

The reason I share this is mainly to tell you two things:

First, opportunities to make money have always existed. There may be certain consumption channels and cognitive monopolies, but breakthroughs can still be found.

Secondly, the same product may sell for 12.9 yuan on Pinduoduo, 19.9 yuan on JD.com, and 16.9 yuan in private communities, but it can be sold for 19.9 US dollars on Amazon.
