How long does it take to apply for the Amazon Transparency Program?

The Transparency Program is a service launched by Amazon in 2015 to protect the brand image and build consumer confidence in the brand. So far, the program is only available on Amazon US. Brands need to prepare relevant documents proving brand ownership.

Products in the Transparency Program will be labeled with a "Transparency QR code", a unique blue QR code label, which will correspond to the SKU participating in the Transparency Program. Customers only need to use Amazon's Transparency app to scan the QR code on the product packaging to immediately know the authenticity of the product and the information contained in the entire process from production to sales.

This means that products with a Transparent QR code have a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) and the right to apply for a unique Transparent QR code for each product category. This code contains more product information than a regular UPC code, such as manufacturer, date, location, expiration date, etc. How much information buyers can see depends on the information uploaded by the manufacturer to the Transparent database, so this will also vary from SKU to SKU.

Amazon Transparency Program application specific process:

1. Register at: https://brandservices.amazon.com/transparency. After submitting the form, a dedicated Amazon staff will follow up and provide you with guidance.

2. After passing the review, Amazon will give you a 26-digit code consisting of letters and numbers.

3. Print labels. Amazon currently only accepts labels printed by two factories

A company in the United States can provide 10,000 free labels, and each additional 1,000 will cost 12 US dollars. There is a contact in Guangzhou, and the cycle for getting the labels is about two weeks;

The other one is in Shenzhen. It costs 0.03-0.06 RMB per label. There are no free labels. It takes about a week to get the label.

4. FBA delivery

After the application, products entering the warehouse must be equipped with transparent labels, otherwise they cannot be put into the warehouse. Taking into account the goods in transit, Amazon will give a 33-day buffer period (which can be extended upon application). During the buffer period, products can be put into the warehouse without labels, and the products without labels already in the warehouse can also be sold normally.

After the buffer period ends, OPR must also pass (labeling accuracy meets the standard) before it will be officially protected.
